The Amazon Kindle DX was not an obvious upgrade for me, but two characteristics put me over the edge: the larger screen, and the native PDF reader. I now have the Kindle DX in my hands

*Response to a reader email *

I have the C++ primer plus, and a host of other very long programming books on the Kindle. They render well and are as easy to read as they are in print. The problem is usually that some publishers take shortcuts when producing the ebook and there are some misspellings, etc... they don't prevent you from reading it though, and they usually update them with fixed copy. Some of the books also create images out of the programming examples, which I find makes them easier to read.

All-in-all I would say that since you can sample the books before you buy, you can see if the books have any of those problems and choose a different one that will meet your needs. The shopping experience is better than in person since you can sample a much wider variety of books before buying. As far as programming books on the Kindle, after a while using it, I haven't seen any problems particular to the Kindle. Most of the problems are with the publisher, editors, etc... The same complaints I would have about print books.
